Quinta da Azureque, is a house for lovers of tranquillity, nature and simplicity, who simultaneously wish to be close to the civilized world and its infrastructure. The fantastic surroundings provide such a unique experience, that the relative simplicity of the house is largely outweighed! The Quinta extends over 3 hectares of private terrain, with an orchard, vineyards, cork oaks and wild nature and is situated at the end of a carriage trail in the natural park of the Costa Vicentina. The house was built as much as possible with local, organic materials. Take care: all electricity is limited to 12 volts, provided by a solar panel on the roof. Due to this voltage, the house does not have an electric coffee maker, a TV or a microwave oven. With a 12-volt pump, water is extracted from a 90-meter deep private well. The water is rich in calcium and a bit too salty to drink (use bottled water). Because of the arid climate, it is forbidden to make campfires or to light barbecues! For possible chilly nights, you can use the wood-stove, for which you can buy wood at the gas station or in the supermarket. You will find two large single mattresses on the entresol, which you can reach with retractable stairs.
In a straight line, Quinta da Azureque is located about 2km from the sea, and you can reach the beach of Praia das Furnas on foot. By car, you can get there by taking the detour around Figueira, or you can join one of the many other beaches on the southern coast close to Sagres and notably on the superb south coast of the Algarve. For nature-lovers, the hiking possibilities are endless. It is even still possible to discover routes of your own. The logbook in the house states itineraries your predecessors found. Every Saturday, a farmer’s market takes place in Lagos, where small farmers from around sell their produce. Every first Saturday of the month, a Gipsy market is organized there. There are several fishermen’s villages around, such as Burgau and Salema. Here, you can still see the traditional way of fishing, when the fishermen embark in the morning and return at night with their catch of the day.

Remarks of the owner Because of 12-volt power, it is not possible to use hair dryers. There is a Brown curling brush functioning on gas (bring a spare cartridge yourself!!)
For warm water supply, there is a gas water-heater. Outside is another shower with warm and cold water. Open fire and BBQ are unfortunately strictly forbidden !!! The area is too dry and windy. Besides, the firemen are nowhere near you, since you are staying in the middle of nature. Instead, there are 2 gas grilling-pans.
Please bring rubbish to the garbage collector in the village yourself.
